Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On- Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

Michigan State Athletics is seeking dynamic people to fill a nine-month assistantship within the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics Marketing and Fan Engagement office. This assistantship will provide you with an entry-level opportunity in the sports marketing field. In this assistantship, we will help you develop a broad-based understanding of External Relations in Athletics. We are looking for a qualified person to format and implement marketing and branding plans and strategy, execute promotions, provide support for our corporate partners, revenue generation support, complete administrative duties and much more. This position is paid.

Duties:

  • Lead pre-game, in-game and post-game promotional activities to engage and improve gameday experience for Spartan fans
  • Build and execute marketing plans and strategy for your assigned sports
  • Implement and execute football and men's basketball marketing initiatives with assistance from the full-time Marketing and Fan Engagement staff
  • Oversee, schedule, and lead undergraduate internship student at athletic events and during office hours
  • Assist with the integration of corporate sponsorships into gameday
  • Support ticketing of events
  • Assist full-time staff with additional projects such as: donation requests, youth involvement and other community outreach programs
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, sports management, or a related field.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects in an organized manner with minimal supervision.
  • You should have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Creativity and the ability to think in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency with computer applications and general office software programs.
  • We expect you to work effectively with a large and diverse population.
  • Position requires untraditional work hours such as nights and weekends.
