An opening for a Mandarin language teacher assisting iPACE Mandarin program for second language learning activities including curriculum development within the iPACE program at USU. iPACE is an international partnership in agriculture, climate & environment, which encourages cooperation through exchange programs with Asian partner universities. iPACE collaborates with USU 4H program and Taiwan's NCHU Language Center to design community courses with the learning-by-doing concepts embedded in these courses. The program provides practical and hands-on experience to help students learn Chinese language and culture

  • Attend a six-hour training, lesson plan development and collaboration in- person
  • Arrive 30 minutes before class starts
  • The employee is regularly required to sit, walk and often uses repetitive hand motions
  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • US citizen or green card holder
  • Certification in language learning and experience in Mandarin teaching, teaching dual immersion program experience
  • Advanced or higher level in Listening/Speaking/Reading/Writing Mandarin
  • Fluent in reading, writing and typing Chinese characters and Pin-Yin
  • A proven record in society engagement and youth activity coordination
  • Creative, outgoing, enjoying work with kids
  • Love to share the Chinese culture
  • Love to research on elementary level science experiments and projects
  • Background Check
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • More than one year Mandarin DLI elementary teaching experience with science
  • Teacher's license or education related degree
  • Kids-friendly interest/skill, i.e. calligraphy, Chinese instruments, painting, craft.
  • Reading, writing and typing Chinese
