Degrees are awarded by RMIT University in Australia, allowing Vietnamese students to receive an overseas education without having to leave home. All degree programs are recognised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and are subject to regulation by the Australian Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency. The Role

Vietnam is an eligible country to participate and receive funding from European Commission. As research culture continues to build in RMIT Vietnam, stronger collaboration between RMIT Europe and RMIT Vietnam is required to strategize our participation in EU funder projects and programs. Due to limited capacity within the RMIT Europe team and the Office for Research & Innovation team in Vietnam, the role has been specifically targeted towards greater engagement and identification of new opportunities across research, industry and students' experiences, focusing on European funding. This is a unique opportunity for a highly skilled professional with strong European and regional networks to help develop and strengthen partnerships with Europe, apply for European research funding, and pursue opportunities for deeper Vietnam-Europe cooperation across research, industry engagement and student experiences.

Your Responsibilities

Build internal networks to support closer cooperation between RMIT Australia, Vietnam and Europe to enable collaborative research and contribute to RMIT Vietnam research aspirations. Develop partnerships with key development consultancies and other partners (universities, industry) providing funding for R&D in Vietnam, with due diligence conducted for each of the partner. Explore education opportunities with non-academic partners and pursue opportunities that align with the research priorities of the University, including Sustainable development, Digital Transformation, Industry 4.0 and Smart Cities. Work with schools and drive submissions for European funding:

  • Work closely with RMIT Europe to identify relevant Horizon Europe calls

  • Engage the schools and identify academics/teams in RMIT Vietnam who are suitable and committed to participating in EU calls and engagement with RMIT Europe activities which support building of research in RMIT Vietnam.

  • Help integrating best practices and a community of practice during the engagements.

  • Drive submissions to international development funding in collaboration with colleagues at RMIT Melbourne

  • Provide pre-award consultation for the schools in Vietnam and facilitate any endorsement/approvals required for the participation Be the point of contact for consultation on post award matters for successful projects with European funding (includes any support and advice required by the schools for research contracts, project management, reporting and audit), working closely with RMIT Europe. Collaborate and engage with all relevant teams in Melbourne, Vietnam and Europe to ensure University processes are followed for any partnership or initiative.

    Skills and Experience

  • A relevant qualification in a related discipline, Masters and above preferred. Well-developed research knowledge and experience.

  • International experience is desirable.

  • Proven experience in developing partnerships for organisational success.

  • Track record in participating in successful funding applications for research or international development.

  • Depth and breadth of networks in Vietnam and Europe with industry, academic and agencies

  • Demonstrated customer service ethic and ability to adapt to feedback to drive continuous improvement.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work independently or as part of a team and with demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders. Demonstrated organisational and time-management skills with a proven record of flexible approach to work.

  • The position requires the ability to collaborate with an influence stakeholder across the University, and as such strong proficiency and communications in English is essential.

  • Benefits

  • USD salary package (plus benefits) for expatriate candidates depending on proven track record, background and experience or alternatively for a local hire, competitive VND salary plus benefits depending on proven track record, background and experience.

  • Expatriate candidates: Relocation allowance, plus support and guidance from experienced Mobility Advisor to assist in work permit and visa application together with relocation to and settling into living and working in Vietnam.

  • Tuition fee support - up to US$15,000 per child annually, up to 2 children per family; private insurance coverage for staff and family.

  • Local candidates: 13th month salary, medical cover for you and immediate family.

  • For all candidates: 20 days annual leave plus 5 days paid leave Xmas closure, plus public holidays and 10 days paid sick leave, flexible working options.

    As an expatriate candidate you will require a work permit to work in Vietnam. To qualify for a work permit you will need (at minimum) a degree in a relevant field to the position and must be able to provide official written confirmation (statement of service) of at least 3 years of related experience.

    English Proficiency

    English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS (General) with a score of at least 7.5 or equivalent.
