Job description

You will work at the research group Science and Technology of Nuclear Fusion (FUSION) in the faculty of applied physics and science education (APSE). With 4 tenured scientists, 2 part-time professors, around 15 PhD and postdocs and 2 supporting staff members, the Fusion group is a vibrant research group in the field of nuclear fusion, who's members also share a passion for working with students. Through their research and student projects, they have a strong international network. They work in close collaboration with the national center for fusion research DIFFER and a variety of research groups at the university.

The TU/e highlights a unique 2-year MSc program on nuclear fusion, which takes in about 30 students per year. The Fusion group is deeply involved in this educational program. Both the research and the education program span the width of fusion research: from physics to engineering and socio-economics.

As a result of a retirement, the FUSION group is looking for an enthusiastic, accurate and proactive Management / Office Assistant, to work in close collaboration with another management assistant.

Responsibilities

As a Management / Office Assistant you provide secretarial and administrative support for the staff members of the research group, enabling them to focus on their core activities. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Organizing different types of meetings and events, like PhD defences, colloquia, conferences, etc.
  • Taking care of the group's administrative systems, procedures and tasks, regarding students and PhDs, personnel and visitors.
  • Drawing up and managing the administrative aspects of projects and assisting collecting relevant information for group and project progress reports.
  • Monitoring progress and efficiency within the research group and / or project teams by coordinating, monitoring agreements, creating documentation (and documentation systems), progress checks, etc.
  • Communication within the group and keeping the webpage up to date.
  • Organizing social events like group activities, anniversaries and farewells.
  • Supporting the staff on all levels, like travel arrangements, managing agenda's etc.
  • Job requirements
  • Secretarial and / or administrative training, at least at MBO level.
  • Several years of experience in a similar function, preferably in a similar working environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, Dutch is an advantage.
  • Microsoft Office skills and willingness to learn other applications.
  • Organization skills and ability to set priorities.
  • Proactive, service-oriented and flexible personality.

    Conditions of employment

    An exciting part-time position (0,6 fte) within an international yet personal university.   • A monthly salary of minimum €2.618,- to maximum €3.636,- for full-time employment, depending on your knowledge and experience (scale 6 or 7 collective labour agreement for Dutch Universities).
