  • The candidate will take part in a project whose goal is the optimization of already identified 'Hit' compounds into drug candidate molecules ('Lead'). The candidate will propose chemical optimization strategies and new synthesis targets derived from the hits selected in the team using our comprehensive biophysical/biochemical/biological experimental capacity. He/she will participate in the development of a software tool for cheminformatics 'DOTS' developed within the team. He/she will develop the website associated with these developments He/she will write the reports and technical specifications related to the project. He/she will work closely with the other medicinal chemists, cheminformaticians, and structural biologists involved in the project.

We are seeking a Cheminformatics / Computational Chemistry Scientist for a postdoctoral position with the goal of creating and refining semi-automated hit to lead optimization tools to improve outcomes in early-stage drug discovery. The position is funded by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) and is expected to start in October 2022 for 24 months with the possibility of extension. The candidate will have a solid understanding of Cheminformatics and Drug Design principles with an interest in structural biology. As a research engineer / postdoc you will join our international team composed of synthetic chemists, molecular modelers, informaticists, biochemists, structural biologists, and biologists in an outstanding and competitive scientific environment.

The CRCM is hosted on the cancer hospital 'Institut Paoli- Calmettes' (IPC) campus, a European leading cancer hospital, and by the Faculty of Pharmacy of Aix-Marseille University, one of the biggest universities in France. More than 400 researchers work at CRCM on strongly multi-disciplinary and translational research basis with the clinicians from the hospital.
