General Description
This position is responsible for re-keying and installing locks, replacing and
repairing handicap accessibility devices, preparing and installing new doors,
and replacing fire extinguishers. There are three locksmith levels, requiring
a varying level of experience and skill. Selected applicants will be placed
into the most applicable level based on the application process.
Locksmith I: Grade 514; $12.22-$16.30/hour
Locksmith II: Grade 513; $13.46-$17.95/hour
Locksmith III: Grade 513; $14.83-$19.78/hour

Essential Job Duties
Job duties vary in complexity based on level. Duties required for all
levels are listed below.
Make and re-key locks for security purposes;
Change locker combinations;
Repair, disassemble, and replace locks, worn tumblers, springs, and other
parts;
Repair, adjust, and mount door closers;
Maintain panic devices and door hinges;
Repair and replace fire extinguishers and equipment;
Assist fire extinguisher inspector to locate and tag extinguishers;
Replace or repair window hardware;
Replace and cut all fire extinguisher glass for fire alarm boxes and fire
extinguisher boxes;
Assist in opening buildings for architects, engineers, contractors, and
pest control personnel;
Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition;
Work with computer software as required for key tracking and bitting
setups;
Use tablet and CMMS software for work order management;
Adhere to all safety standards and work practices established in the
trade;
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Level II & III Only –
Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all keys and locks;
Sub for absent staff, when needed;
Fill in for supervisor, upon request.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma/equivalent is required for all levels plus the
following;
Locksmith I – Two years of related experience (preferably
institutional or commercial) is required;
Locksmith II – Five years of related experience (preferably
institutional or commercial) is required;
Locksmith III – Seven years of related experience (preferably
institutional or commercial) is required.

Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations
Current, valid driver's license is required;
Certified Registered Locksmith or Certified Professional Locksmith is
preferred.
