Duties:

The Computer Science Department is currently seeking to hire a limited term contract (1 year) Instructor (1.0 FTE) who will continue our tradition of high-quality teaching at the undergraduate level at VIU.

The teaching responsibilities of successful candidates will include foundational and specialized undergraduate courses in Computer Science, inclusive of labs. Areas of teaching that complement the current expertise are: Human Computer Interaction, Web and Mobile Programming, Systems Analysis and Design, Digital Logic & Computer Organization, and Game Development and Graphics.

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning and student success through scholarship and institutional service. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support; institutional, faculty and departmental committee meetings and other initiatives; and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines in and outside the institution.

Required Qualifications:

PhD in Computer Science from an appropriately accredited institution, with expertise in the subject(s) to be taught. Recent post-secondary teaching experience related to a selection of more than one of following areas: Human Computer Interaction; Systems Analysis and Design; Game Development and Graphics; Digital Logic & Computer Organization; Web and Mobile Programming.

  • An established record of successful supervision of undergraduate research
