Position Summary:

The Rollins College Department of Theatre & Dance seeks candidates for a one- year, full-time, non-tenure track faculty teaching position, beginning fall term 2023. After one year, this position has the possibility for renewal. Extensive experience in theatrical lighting production and teaching experience required; MFA in Lighting Design or commensurate professional experience related field is required. Responsibilities include overseeing all lighting projects for two theatres (including new black box) and a 3/3 teaching load with course releases for mainstage lighting designs and production courses. The successful candidate will be eager to work closely with students and within a collaborative production design team. Artists in Residence receive travel funding and opportunities for professional development; they are welcomed and encouraged to participate fully in Department and College life.

  • Attends all design and production meetings to collaborate with Production Team to design and produce original lighting designs for assigned productions, and oversees the completion of all lighting needs including hang and strike for each production, as well as all Theatre & Dance faculty/staff meetings.
  • Instructs and supervises student lighting crews in pre-production on use and handling of all lighting equipment and safe operation of genie lifts, as well as proper use of all fall arrest and safety equipment in all theatre spaces.
  • Manages all lighting production budgets, purchase and storage of all lighting consumables, hardware and software repairs, maintenance, and replacement, and keeps track of/repairs lighting needs during performance weeks.
  • Maintains equipment, consumables, accessories, dimmers, and control systems for all theatre sand the design classroom's Yeager Lighting Lab.
  • Teaches courses and independent studies as well as mentoring students in Lighting Design, Master Electrician, Technical Theatre production, and in Rollins general education rFLA program as needed.
  • Performs other duties deemed reasonable to the position as assigned by the Director of Theatre, Academic Chair, or Production Manager.
