Salary Information Salary commensurate with experience Department Summary

The mission of the Law Library is tied to the educational mission of the College of Law. The Law Library will lead the way in teaching, resources, and services aimed at developing information-related competencies critical in law practice.

Position Overview

Working in the library of the UNT Dallas College of Law, this Library Specialist will have primary duties in public services serving as the default substitute for all circulation desk shifts. Secondary duties will include collection management, working regular shifts in this role. This Library Specialist will work under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Library Services.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree and one (1) year of progressively responsible full-time library experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• General knowledge of library principles and policies. • Ability to utilize basic computer applications toward increased productivity in a rapidly changing environment. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. • Strong customer service skills. • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles. • Knowledge of safe working procedures and security measures related to work performed.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree and two years of progressively responsible library experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training. • Intermediate to advanced experience with Koha library management software • Experience creating and updating LibGuides • Ability to make informed decisions about policy/ procedure independently. • Customer service experience. • Excellent time management skills. • Detail oriented. • Experience providing training to coworkers and students. • Excellent interpersonal skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Required License / Registration / Certification Work Schedule

10:00 a.m. to 7:00 pm, Monday through Thursday and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday when school is in session, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday when school is not in session, or as otherwise required.

Job Duties

o

Work circulation desk during the breaks and absences of student assistants.

o

Primary back up for all circulation desk shifts (including nights and weekends with notice)

o

Checking out and in library materials.

o

Process Holds / Mailings

o

Clerical work including the management of monthly invoices, statements and expense reports.

o

Book delivery for faculty and staff

o

Provide customer service to students, faculty, and public.

o

Will cross-train in any/all library roles to master software and operating systems.

o

Monitors and maintains adequate levels of office supplies and administrative materials.

o

Assists with the planning and execution of library events and some College of Law events.

o

Facilitates problem solving for appropriate college personnel as required.

o

Perform related duties as required.
