About This Role:
This position is responsible for opening and closing the entire building
and overseeing the daily operations of the Circulation/Reserves desk,
including student employees, in coordination with other library faculty and
staff.
Position Responsibilities:
Opening and closing the building including overseeing student employees as
they perform assigned task related to opening and closing procedures
Overseeing daily operations including completing all daily tasks in
Circulation/Reserves, as well as overseeing daily duties of student
employees
Perform all tasks relevant to the operation of Circulation/Reserves
including cross- training other staff members and training the student
employees on operations relevant to their daily task
Will be assigned to work evenings and/ or weekends hours
Provide customer service including Guide patrons to the point of service
that will be able to best meet their needs as well as assist with all
Circulation, Reserves, and Interlibrary Loan requests
Maintain the physical collection, including maintenance of the stacks and
second floor areas, re-shelving books and periodicals, inventory of books
and shifting of books to alleviate overcrowding as well as training,
overseeing, and assisting student employees in these tasks
Serve as backup for staff and/or students as needed
Perform other tasks as assigned
Maintain and acquire new skills and knowledge both to remain up to date
for compliance and to enhance job skills
Participate on library and university committees as assigned or as time
permits

A high school diploma or equivalent required

Standard library and office practices and procedures
Understand, interpret, and carry out detailed oral and written instructions
Basic computer skills including internet navigation and Microsoft Office

Working ability to search for and locate library print and electronic resources

Ability to interact and communicate with faculty, staff, students, and library patrons
Capable of working with a diverse population
Capable of learning and using workflows

Physical Requirements:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment
Moderate physical effort; may require handling of average weight objects
up to 30 pounds or some standing or walking, fine motor skills (typing)
No or very limited exposure to physical risk
