To provide paraprofessional and supervisory skills necessary to the operation of a technical services or public services unit of the Myles and Sylvia Aaronson Library and Mario Ramirez M.D. Library. Responsible for performing specialized duties requiring advanced operational skills, a degree of independent judgment, and a general knowledge of library practices and procedures.
Description of Duties
• Performs complicated bibliographic searching and revision for ordering, cataloging or interlibrary loan.
• Processes orders and cancellations.
• Verifies and processes titles received as soon as possible.
• Performs complex searches using library databases.
• Helps identify best resources for patron's research.
• Assists in the collection of data and preparation of materials for periodic reports.
• Verifies titles, title changes and prices.
• Processes and pays invoices.
• Sets up and maintains vendor records and purchase orders.
• Solves difficult periodicals and acquisitions problems.
• Inputs data into databases and spreadsheets.
• Maintains close working relationship with purchasing and accounts payable departments.
• May perform independent reference work including complex database searches.
• Monitors expenditure levels in materials accounts.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Specific supervision from assigned supervisor.

Supervises assigned staff.
Required Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education
Twelve (12) college credit hours in Computer Information Systems or computer related field with an Associate's degree.
Licenses/Certifications
None.
Required Experience
• Two (2) years of library experience, or
• No previous work experience with Associate's degree / 60 hours college credit.
Preferred Experience
One (1) year as a Library Assistant I or other library support position.
Equipment
Use of standard office equipment.
Working Conditions
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. Must be able to stoop and reach in order to lift books to stock shelves, lift boxes of books and other library materials, and push carts and dollies loaded with library materials.
Other
Ability to assist patrons with library electronic databases and search tools including online catalog. Must possess good writing, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work with library Millennium system and Library of Congress classification system.
