Remuneration: $72,927 - $98,975 pa Level A / $104,185 - $123,720 pa Level B (plus 17% employer superannuation)

    The Opportunity

    The Biomedicine Discovery Institute is seeking either a Level A or Level B Research Fellow to join their team. The Research Fellow provides extensive high-quality research within the Mitochondrial Biology and Disease laboratory to drive new, impactful discoveries. The Research Fellow will carry out independent and/or team research within the field they are appointed. The role has key responsibilities in preparing research publications, presenting research findings at conferences, and everyday running of the laboratory. The Research Fellow is also expected to contribute to supervision of students and research support staff, administration and general management of the laboratory.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research and producing conference/seminar papers and research materials. You will also supervise research-support staff and guide junior members of research-only Academic staff. The successful candidate will contribute to the preparation of research proposal submissions to external funding bodies and may occasionally contribute to teaching programs within the field of research.

    The successful candidate will have a doctoral qualification in the relevant discipline area, equivalent qualifications or relevant experience and knowledge in biochemistry, molecular biology, or cell biology. A demonstrated ability in undertaking research, leading a team, and manuscript preparation skills are required for success in this role. The successful candidate will be highly organised and have experience in supervising and working with honours or postgraduate students within the discipline.

    This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
