The Batten College of Engineering and Technology at Old Dominion University (ODU) invites applications from accomplished individuals with an earned Master's degree in engineering to serve as Lecturers in the Engineering Fundamentals Division – First Year Engineering program in Fall 2023. The successful candidates are expected to teach sections of the relevant courses in Engineering Fundamentals and/or First Year Engineering, working with the program director to ensure proper course structure, curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment; as well as consistency in course contents and standards. An interest in engineering education best practices, research, and assessment are desirable attributes. Candidates must be committed to contributing to high- quality education of a diverse student body at the undergraduate level and must demonstrate an unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

Strong commitment to teaching excellence.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Demonstrated knowledge and interest in first year engineering programs and initiatives.

Teaching experience that can be translated to first year engineering students.

A commitment to project-based learning.

Thorough understanding of principles, practices and procedures involved in FYE program development, theoretical models, best practices and current issues supporting in first-year student transition, development, and retention.

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training

Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.

Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification Preferred Qualifications

Record of involvement in curricular and pedagogical developments in the teaching of engineering.

Evidence of active scholarship related to curricular or pedagogical issues in engineering.

Successful experience in supporting the academic success of diverse, underrepresented or underserved student populations.

Experience with course assessment, data collection and analysis: ability to collect, analyze, and assess data related to student success, and student learning outcomes
