About us

Curtin's School of Nursing is the longest established school of nursing in the Australian university sector. From the time it opened 47 years ago, the school has been a key part of the University's drive to be a leader in health sciences education and research. The school delivers a range of undergraduate courses in nursing, oral health therapy and paramedicine; and specialist postgraduate courses in areas ranging from diabetes and critical care, to child health and midwifery.

In this role you will

  • Deliver high quality teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing reflective improvement in teaching.
  • Conduct tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, clinical teaching and clinical supervision, as appropriate, which stimulate and foster student learning.
  • Mark and assess student work.
  • Contribute to curriculum innovation and content design.
  • Engage and participate in a coherent programme of scholarly research
  • Disseminate research findings through seminars, workshops and conferences.
  • Publish in high quality refereed journals/outlets in manner consistent with disciplinary practice.
  • As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered. Only in limited situations will visa sponsorship situations be considered.

  • A doctoral qualification in relevant discipline ( or equivalent accreditation and professional standing for Teaching Focused Clinical Professional role ).
  • Registered with AHPRA (or the equivalent Australian health professional regulatory authority).
  • Demonstrated high level teaching skill and a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching delivery.
  • An understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline and experience of scholarship in teaching.
  • A record of research outputs in high quality refereed academic journals/outlets consistent with the discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience to undertake unit coordination role.
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
