The Department of Computer Science wish to appoint a highly motivated computer scientist as a Lecturer (teaching role) to contribute to teaching our excellent students and to develop new forms of delivery.

You must have a continuing commitment to maintaining the University's high standards in teaching and learning, with the ability to educate and inspire the brightest students and to design, develop and deliver high quality teaching, supervision and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

You will contribute to leading new teaching initiatives and will teach a range of topics in computer science. We have preference for a background in the areas of artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, reinforcement learning and robotics, but will consider expertise in any field related to Computer Science.

Your duties as a Lecturer will include:

  • giving lectures
  • running tutorials
  • setting and assessing coursework and examinations
  • supervising and marking project work
  • Teaching will be conducted as part of a team across a range of relevant courses. You must be a good communicator and a very effective team member, with enthusiasm for the subject material, strong organisational skills and ability to work well with diverse staff and students. You will be expected to extend our core teaching strengths and to develop effective courses through helping lead the proposal, development and delivery of new online programmes.
