Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Project Management and Digital Construction

FTE: 1.0 FTE (working 37 hours per week)

Duration: Permanent

Salary Range: UH7 Lecturer: £35,333 to £42,155 pa dependent on skills and experience. UH8 Senior Lecturer £42,155 to £53,353 pa dependent on skills and experience.

Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield

The School of Physics, Engineering and Computer Science - Department of Engineering is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Project Management and Digital Construction or a related subject area, to support our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Civil Engineering & Built Environment subject areas. The applicant would ideally have specific knowledge and experience in one or more of the following subject areas:

• Sustainable Construction

• Digital Tools for Construction (not solely in Building Information Modelling)

• Construction and Project Management

Main Duties and Responsibilities

You will undertake teaching and assessment in engineering and technology modules, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will also support learning through design and development of course materials including online content and undertaking necessary tutorial, laboratory, and administrative activities.

You will be expected to contribute actively to research interests of the school and develop short courses, commercial and KTP related activities in the school. You will supervise postgraduate research projects and apply for external funding to support research and commercial activities.

For the role of Senior Lecturer, you will also undertake an administrative role in the school assisting with programme management, or other similar duties, provide leadership in an aspect of research or commercial activities and undertake other duties within the framework of the post as delegated by the Head of Department or Head of Subject Group.

Skills and Experience

You must have experience of working in Civil Engineering and Built Environment within the domain of project management and digital construction either within Higher Education or in a relevant sector. In addition to this you will need proven experience of teaching or tutoring at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. You must have a strong commitment to teaching, learning and student support at University level and a potential willingness to attract external funding in research or enterprise. You will have demonstrable proficiency in English Language, with excellent oral and written communication skills. You must have a strong desire to enthuse and engage our students and be effective within a team setting. We will also expect from you a willingness to develop module and programme level material whilst also demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement and to undertake professional qualifications where appropriate.

For the role of Senior Lecturer, you must have substantial experience of working in the domain of project management and digital construction or closely related areas. You will also be required to have a strong track record of research publications and/or industrial experience and evidence of securing external funding. In addition to this, you must have the knowledge and demonstrable experience to contribute to the School's teaching and research areas.

Qualifications Required

You must hold a minimum of a first degree or equivalent level 6 qualification in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related subject area.

The role of Senior Lecturer will also require a Post graduate at Masters, or equivalent level 7 qualification in Construction-Project Management or Digital Tools for Construction or related subject area.
