Job description

Leeds Beckett is a modern professional university with ambition. Within the School of Health we have an exciting opportunity to join a committed team with a long-established history of excellence in delivering innovative teaching in nutrition.

We successfully deliver a portfolio of nutrition and dietetic courses across the Undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum and are proud of our creative and inspiring teaching. Longstanding accreditation with the Association for Nutrition, established connections with employers and high graduate employability are key to our delivery. The focus of our research is obesity and health inequality, which shapes contemporary guidance in the management of obesity at national and international level. This is supported by a thriving postgraduate research community. The integration of applied research across the curriculum is core, alongside use of state of art laboratories that enhance the applied nature of teaching and research delivery.

To underpin our delivery, we are seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in nutrition. In this role you will be expected to contribute to curriculum development and to the wider academic, scholarly and professional requirements of the School and University. Contribution to the management and development of courses, the delivery of research and enterprise activity and maintaining a professional and research profile are also essential in this role. Your commitment to maintaining your own continuing professional development is important, whilst playing an active role in the teaching, development and administration of Nutrition & Dietetic programmes.

We welcome applicants who have sector experience within Nutrition. They should hold a relevant PhD (or MSc with suitable professional standing) and be able to demonstrate an appropriate level of research and teaching experience in higher education. We are particularly interested in individuals with:

• Registered Nutritionist (RNutr) status

• A track record of and a passion for high quality teaching within Nutrition

• Enthusiasm, initiative and a team ethic

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• A highly organised and flexible approach to work

In addition, applicants should demonstrate engagement with external partners, professional networks, be expected to contribute to the research and enterprise of the School and to maintain their professional development.

Informal enquiries should be addressed, to Kate Austin, Course Director Nutrition, email: K.E.Austin@leedsbeckett.ac.uk.

Closing date: Friday 30 September 2022 (23:59)
