  • About ARU:

Our vibrant, modern University is gaining prominence both nationally and internationally and we have ambitious plans for our future. Our main campuses in the cities of Cambridge, Chelmsford and Peterborough have been transformed with major capital investments. With an annual turnover of £200m and over 39,000 students, we are a major force for higher education in the East of England.

    About the role:

You'll join our School of Life Sciences working in the Biology subject team, based in our Faculty of Science and Engineering. We're a forward-looking and enthusiastic School with a vision that combines commitment to a strong and active research culture with excellence in learning and teaching. We are seeking a motivated academic who has the commitment and ability to make a full and active contribution to our teaching and administration within the School. You'll contribute to teaching and administration in our courses, which cover areas of animal behaviour, biodiversity, conservation, marine biology and zoology. You'll also contribute to our research culture, working with colleagues in the Behavioural Ecology Research Group (BERG) and/or the Applied Ecology Research Group (AERG). Between them the BERG and AERG had 14 staff submitted for REF 2021, and in the previous REF the majority of our papers were judged as internationally excellent or world leading.

With a PhD or professional doctorate (or nearing completion) in a related discipline, you'll also have teaching experience in higher education. You'll be committed to research and prepared to work as part of multi-disciplinary teams as well as developing your personal research activities. You'll possess excellent communications skills and will demonstrate a flexible approach to work.

For informal enquiries please contact Dr Alvin Helden, Deputy Head of School at alvin.helden@aru.ac.uk, or Professor Christopher Parris, Head of School of Life Sciences at Christopher.parris@aru.ac.uk
