Our main campus is located in Stoke on Trent alongside our Centres of Excellence in Healthcare Education located in Stafford and Shrewsbury. Staffordshire University London's Digital Institute is our first campus outside the Midlands.

With more than 10,000 Full Time Undergraduate and Postgraduate students on campus, we continue to drive innovation and change, aiming to positively disrupt our sector. For our University, it is about so much more than the numbers. In fact, if there's one thing that sets us apart, it's our people who are all #ProudToBeStaffs. Every one of our employees goes above and beyond to deliver on our connected mission, responding to the needs of our students, academic partners, businesses and society.

Over the past 5 years, we have transformed ourselves into a Gold standard provider of teaching and learning, gaining historically high positions in the UK league tables. With digital skills being at our core, we strive for diversity in all its forms and play an important role in our local communities and regional economies.

About the role

We are seeking ambitious and inspirational nurses to join our Child Nursing lecturing team.

As part of our inspiring teaching team, your role would include activities such as:

  • Preparing and delivering teaching and learning activities covering various aspects of our pre and post registration nursing courses. Whilst primarily this teaching will focus on nursing students from your specific field, the role would also include teaching to other specialities and apprenticeship courses relating to nursing.
  • Delivering clinical skills teaching using our state-of-the-art simulation facilities, classroom teaching, academic mentoring, marking and assessment
  • Enhancement of the student experience and contributing to ongoing course evaluation and development
  • Engaging with, and developing, innovative and effective teaching methods to enhance student engagement and achievement
  • Contributing to student recruitment and ongoing promotion of the courses delivered by the School.
  • We can offer contracts of employment to suit you, including part-time, full time, permanent and secondment opportunities. We also have a remote working policy, which gives staff the flexibility to work remotely for part of the week.

Successful applicants will have varied experience and knowledge of working as an NMC registered nurse. Effective teamworking and excellent communication skills are essential. Formal teaching experience in higher education is preferred but is not essential for the Lecturer (Grade 7) post. However, these are considered as essential requirements for the Senior Lecturer role.

The School of Health, Science and Wellbeing is committed to ensure that we develop the safest practitioners in the sector. To this end, patient safety and simulation-based education is a key strand of our work, and we would particularly welcome applicants with a passion for patient safety and simulation.

Applicants must hold a relevant professional qualification, an undergraduate degree and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

We are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive community – a place where everyone can be themselves and succeed on merit.

This post will require the successful candidate to work across the three campus sites (Shrewsbury, Stoke and Stafford) of the School.

In return for your dedication, we have a competitive benefits package available

  • Competitive incremental rates of Pay
  • Starting from 37 days Annual Leave (depending on job grade) plus 11 days Bank Holiday and Discretionary days
  • Excellent Pension Scheme
  • Access to continued professional and personal development
  • An opportunity to become part of the wider University community
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Discounted Health & Fitness Facilities on site at the Stoke Campus
  • Discounted Travel by Rail or Bus, with the option of season tickets loans
  • We reserve the right to close any vacancies when we are in receipt of sufficient applications. All applicants are advised to complete and submit your applications as soon as possible.
