The Turner School of Accountancy offers programs for students at various stages of their professional accounting careers. Our programs provide conceptual and technical knowledge in the accounting and business areas, serving as a foundation for accounting career development. The Belk College's undergraduate accounting program is accredited by AACSB International, which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and by the Council on Post- Secondary Accreditation as the sole accrediting agency for baccalaureate degree programs in accounting. Graduates find a wide range of professional careers in public practice, industry, financial institutions, government and non-profit organizations.

Thus, the Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Non-Tenure Track Faculty should be interpreted in the context of the related departmental and collegiate teaching goals.

Teaching – Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Turner School of Accountancy in the Belk College of Business at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking to fill a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer position in Accounting, for an August 2023 start date. This position is full-time and non-tenure track. Candidates should be able to educate a diverse population of students in various accounting courses including two or more of the following, managerial, financial, auditing, tax, and accounting information systems. Prior teaching experience, especially in large classroom settings, is preferred. The teaching load is four courses per semester. In addition to the teaching responsibilities, qualified candidates must be prepared to provide leadership in student organizations, serve on committees, and engage in sufficient professional activities to maintain currency in the field.

Minimum Experience/Education

UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience

This position requires candidates to possess at least a Master's degree in accounting, or MBA with concentration in accounting with a focus on financial accounting, managerial accounting, or tax, and with at least 18 hours of graduate accounting coursework. Individuals selected for this position will be expected to meet, and maintain, professional and/or academic qualifications as defined in the Belk College Policy on Academic & Professional Qualifications which can be found at this link.

Experience working with diverse student populations is preferred.

CPA or CMA preferred.
