    Salary range: $56,945 is the current minimum starting salary (full- time); salary to commensurate based on teaching experience.

    Percent time: Part-time or Full-time. Summer Sessions - appointments are handled on a by-agreement basis. Academic Year - A co-taught course typically results in a 17% appointment, and a single course typically results in a 33% appointment. Therefore, appointments may vary from 17%-100%, depending on the needs of the department.

    Anticipated start: Summer 2022, Fall 2022, and Spring 2023. Appointments for fall semester are usually reviewed in April, spring semester in October, and summer sessions in March.

    Position description

    The Psychology Department at University of California, Berkeley, is generating an applicant pool of qualified temporary instructors (“Lecturer” title series) to teach courses in the Department of Psychology. The number of positions varies from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the Psychology Department.

    Teaching Responsibilities We are seeking outstanding lecturers who can teach a range of possible courses that vary in size and subject area. Subject areas include the ones listed below.

    Core Courses Subject areas include: Applied Early Developmental Psychology Human Happiness

    General Duties In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include (but are not limited to) managing graders and/or graduate student instructors (teaching assistants), holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and maintaining a course website. Those teaching large courses are expected to work with, meet with, and mentor graduate student instructors.

    UC Lecturers are academic appointees in an organized bargaining unit and are exclusively represented by American Federation of Teachers - Unit 18.

    Qualifications

    Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

    PhD (or equivalent international degree), or enrolled in PhD or equivalent international degree-granting program at the time of application.

    Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

    PhD (or international equivalent degree) by the start date of service. Applicant must be eligible to legally work in the United States.

    Preferred qualifications

    A track record of distinguished teaching to a diverse undergraduate student body.
