Job description

We are now looking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to take an active and senior role in the management, delivery and development of Health Management and Leadership programmes and modules in the School.

You will lead, manage and support the development of our new Integrated Health Management and Leadership programmes. The postholder will be a member of the Division of Interdisciplinary Research and Practice, one of seven Divisions in the School of Health and Social Care and has a large portfolio of exciting apprenticeships, CPD modules, and Global Public Health courses. We are currently expanding to include a MSc in Integrated Health Management and Leadership and are looking to add to our portfolio.

The role will include input into leadership of the new Integrated Leadership programmes, and will require management, administration, and organisation alongside teaching and support of students on our existing programmes, and generally enhancing our research-led teaching and research across our programmes in Health and Social Care. We aim for excellence in research as well as in education and are looking for candidates who can contribute to both.

About you You will have relevant professional experience or practice or relevant doctoral level degree (or be close to completion for G9).

It is essential that candidates have experience in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, or demonstrable potentia l to engage in teaching and learning support (sustained record for G10) and an understanding of how students learn both generally and within their subject/disciplinary area(s).

For ASER contracts, you will have a clear publication plan for submission to future Research Excellence Framework (REF) programmes and evidence of a research agenda, engagement in high-quality research activity and a developing research profile. For grade 10 this will be an established and internationally recognised research profile, with a well-developed future research agenda.

The School Organised health and social care is one of the greatest achievements of the 20th century, made possible by the vision and dedication of the professionals who staff it.

We prepare our students to join that inspirational workforce as a caring, compassionate and competent professional who shares our commitment to improving lives. We offer courses across undergraduate, Masters and research degree level, as well as Continuing Professional Development for those enhancing their skills.

We are at the forefront of preparing people to solve real-life issues in health and society, offering courses that both commissioners and employers believe in. People are at the heart of all we do. We work in partnership with people from all walks of life, who offer us their expertise and experience, making us a team of people who truly understand what is needed from health and social care professionals – now and in the future.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the School during their exciting time of growth, with increasing student numbers.

Please state within the application which level contract you are applying for. If you are applying ASE level, you will not need to submit a research statement or a three-year funding plan.

We particularly welcome applications from those from an ethnic minority as they are under-represented in the School.

Please see the attached job pack, which contains a full job description and person specification which outlines the full duties, skills, qualifications and experience needed for this role plus more information relating to the post. We recommend you read this information carefully before making an application. Applications should be made on-line, but if you would like advice or help in making an application, or need information in a different format, please contact resourcing@essex.ac.uk
