Hold or are eligible to hold a current North Carolina Teaching License with a minimum of three years successful teaching experience in a public school is required with one or more credentials in Elementary K-6, Early Childhood Birth-Kindergarten, Reading K-12 or Special Education K-12. Preference given to candidates with multiple licensure areas. Excellent teaching skills and interpersonal skills, combined with strong oral and written communication skills; Effective use of technology in teaching and learning; Knowledge and expertise in use of North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards and North Carolina Standard Course of Study related to teaching practices; and knowledge and expertise in use of TaskStream, Learning Management Systems, edTPA assessments and CAEP accreditation. The primary purpose of the Department Educational Leadership & Specialties in the SOE is to serve students who major in special education, birth- kindergarten, seek a concentration in reading, or seek a graduate degree in reading or school administration.

UNC Pembroke School of Education seeks to fill an academic position as Lecturer in the School of Education. Position begins August 2021 and requires a 4/4 teaching load with opportunities to advise students, engage in service activities and professional development.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate students, supervision of field experience and student teaching interns, service on School of Education and University committees, leadership opportunities in the School of Education, engaging in professional development and assessment and evaluation of program related to standards.

Candidates should provide evidence of supporting pre-service and in-service teachers, commitment to equity and diversity in public schooling, experience in collaboration with elementary faculty and school partners and expertise in technology integration in the classroom. Strong consideration will be afforded to candidates with a demonstrated record of professional teaching experience at the elementary or secondary and collegiate level, including online teaching with an ability to successfully structure and implement a distance-education based course. Review of credentials will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Beginning date is August 2021.
