IUPUC—Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus—has delivered high-quality undergraduate and graduate degree programs aligned with and responsive to regional educational needs since 1970. Applications are being accepted for a lecturer position in the biology program in the Division of Science at IUPUC.

IUPUC is located in Columbus, Indiana, and enrolls between 1,500 and 1,800 students annually. Columbus is located one hour south of Indianapolis, 1¼ hours from Louisville, and 1½ hours from Cincinnati. Columbus is a unique midwestern community with a population of 46,000 known for its world class architecture. A non-tenure track appointment is available on August 1, 2022, at the rank of Lecturer in the Division of Science at IUPUC. The position is a ten-month teaching assignment with responsibilities for teaching four sections each semester (equal to 24 contact hours per year) and for engaging in service activities at the campus level.

Basic Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS: Candidates should have a Master's Degree, Ph.D. or equivalent in one of the fields listed above or a related field. The division seeks highly qualified candidates who have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching in one of the following fields of expertise: human anatomy, physiology, cell biology, microbiology, or biochemistry. The successful candidate also may be expected to teach courses in general biology for majors and non-majors.

Qualifications include experience teaching undergraduate biology courses, ability and interest to work with a diverse student population, desire to improve conditions in and access to higher education for underrepresented students. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must. Successful teaching at the university level is very important.

Additional Qualifications

PREFERENCES: Two semesters of experience in teaching traditional and non- traditional undergraduate students and demonstrated capacity to collaborate with faculty across disciplines. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of teaching one or more of the following: human anatomy, physiology, cell biology, microbiology, or biochemistry. Preference will also be given to applicants who have a record of teaching and serving under-represented populations and first-generation college students and a demonstrated commitment to student and community engagement.
