FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Tourism and Hospitality at Kingsborough Community College invites applications for a full-time Lecturer to teach undergraduate courses in the Maritime Technology Program, commencing the fall 2023 semester. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Low Voltage Electrical Theory, NMEA 2000, J1939 protocols as it pertains to vessel system integrations. The successful candidate will also be expected to be involved in curriculum development for Career and Technical Education (CTE) related courses in the Maritime Program.

Performs teaching and related faculty functions in area(s) of expertise.

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree (minimum), Doctorate degree, highly preferred, with additional industry certifications from: Marine Motor Manufacturers, National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA), American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC), or be able to obtain similar certifications within two years of employment and the ability to teach successfully.

Prior teaching experience - 10 years in technical subjects, post secondary preferred.

Work Experience: 10-15 years related industry management experience in Marine Repairs, Vessel Systems, Electronic Installations and Basic Electrical Battery Systems. Emphasis on teaching to ABYC and NMEA standards.

COMPENSATION

$67,684 - $76,870

Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
