    About the role:

    The Discipline of Vision and Hearing Sciences, within the School of Psychology and Sport Science is a leading provider of quality education in Optometry, Ophthalmic Dispensing & Audiology in the UK and has been at the forefront in the development of innovative courses in these areas.

    We are looking for a Dispensing Optician or Optometrist to join our team. The prospective candidate will have the opportunity to support and lead in the development of our courses in Ophthalmic Dispensing, Optometry, and Contact Lens Optometry, and opportunities to develop their research in the vision sciences.

    You will have a degree or a relevant professional qualification and extensive post qualification CPD (for Lecturer Practitioner roles), or a degree plus a PhD or nearing completion (for Lecturer roles). With registration with the GOC as either a dispensing optician or optometrist, you will either be currently practicing or have other relevant professional experience. Professional qualifications as FBDO or FdScOD/MOptom are required for this position. Specific expertise in contact lens optometry is especially desirable.

    You will have the opportunity to contribute to the broad range of the School's teaching portfolio, however, you'll also demonstrate the ability and desire to contribute to the School's research and associated scholarly & consulting activities is also required.

    Please note that this post is advertised as either a lecturer practitioner or as a lecturer. A maximum of 1 appointment at 1.0FTE will be made overall following the recruitment round.
