Position descriptionThe UC Irvine School of Education seeks applicants for temporary, part-time lecturer position in fall quarter 2023 to teach EDUC 346 Reading and Writing in Middle and High School Classrooms, a course in the Master of Arts with Credential Program. Two 4-unit course sections are available in the single subject pathway:
Course Description: EDUC 346 Reading and Writing in Middle and High School Classrooms: The purpose of this class is twofold: First, to develop teacher candidates with a deep understanding of the theories surrounding literacy practices of secondary school students. Second, teacher candidates will be guided to use knowledge of literacy processes to design learning activities that support student participation in content area learning and develop academic skills of expression and communication through action research.
Service Period Dates: Fall Quarter is 9/25/23– 12/15/23, first day of instruction is 9/28/23
Minimum Qualifications: A master's degree, a record of successful teaching experience, a valid credential in English with an English Learner Authorization, experience teaching multilingual students, and demonstrated expertise in the content of the course to be taught. Relevant experience may be considered.
Desired Qualifications: A doctoral degree in a field related to the course to be taught. Teaching at University level. Salary:
Annual full-time salaries will begin at a base rate of $64,329. The salary range is $66,259-68,247 annually.
