Are you looking for a role in a thriving school in a Russell Group University? Do you have expertise in the field of TESOL, including excellent experience of teaching an international student cohort? Do you have a strong and growing research record, and a commitment to securing research funding? Are you passionate about delivering world-leading research and an exceptional student experience through outstanding teaching and support?
We are looking for someone with vision and research capability to join our TESOL team within the School of Education and able to work flexibly in language education. The School of Education is one of the UK's leading education departments, including a large, successful TESOL team with an established international reputation and a research centre in language education. In addition, colleagues in the School undertake research that focuses on improving children's life chances through education; inclusion and youth; health education; and curriculum, policy and practice in national and international contexts.
As Lecturer in TESOL, you will carry out research, teaching and management within the School, Faculty and University, and contribute to leadership, as appropriate to your grade, mainly in language education. You will teach on our postgraduate taught TESOL programmes, specifically the MA courses in TESOL and TESOL Studies, providing specialist, high quality, research-led content and support that delivers an outstanding student experience. There is also an opportunity to contribute to our MA Education and other programmes depending on your research and teaching expertise. We anticipate that you will contribute to new programme and module development and work across the School as appropriate.
With a doctorate degree in language education, English applied linguistics, or a closely related discipline, you will have extensive experience of postgraduate teaching gained in a university setting. You will also have a research profile that includes participation in funded research projects, possess a strong publication record and have doctorate supervision experience. Your research interests will enhance and contribute to the national and international profile of the School, and the TESOL / language education areas in particular.
The School of Education values an inclusive working and teaching environment and our aim is to develop a diverse staff and student community reflective of this. We select candidates on the basis of merit and ability and aspire to further diversify our School and Faculty community. We particularly welcome applications from candidates belonging to groups that have been under- represented in the University including, but not limited to: Black, Asian and ethnically diverse people, people who identify as LGBTQ+, and disabled people.
