  • About the Role The School contains one of Australia's leading urban water research groups. We are looking to further expand our capability in this area and are therefore offering a 5-year lectureship in Sustainable Urban Water Management. The position results from the recent awarding of an ARC Industry Laureate Fellowship within the School to Prof. Tim Fletcher. The position is a great opportunity to establish your reputation internationally, in a group that is strongly connected to industry, and is delivering research that is making a practical difference.

    Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct pioneering research in areas relating to sustainable urban water management, and particularly in the areas of real-time control, rainwater harvesting and the protection of urban waterways.
  • Work in partnership with industry to deliver real-scale research.
  • Communicate your research locally, nationally and internationally, through conferences, publications and international networks.
  • Participate in teaching across the School, to inspire the next generation of urban water managers.
  • Who We Are Looking For We're looking for someone who has strong technical skills, is passionate about the sustainability of water resources, and who has a natural flare for working with collaborators and industry. You'll have an interest in technology and control of complex systems, and enjoy working in a collaborative and collegiate team.

    You will also have:

  • A PhD or equivalent in civil or environmental engineering or a related discipline
  • An emerging track-record of publications in urban water management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to engage with collaborators and indstry
  • Experience, ideally, in programming, control systems and optimisation.
