Applications are sought from candidates working in methodological statistics connected with real-world challenges. You should have a proven track record of publishing research work of international quality, and demonstrate potential for being a capable and enthusiastic contributor to the Department's Statistics teaching. Your role will be an independent academic in the Department, aligned to one of the research groups but following your own research agenda, while also teaching and carrying out academic administration. This is an exciting time to join one of the largest and most vibrant statistics communities in the UK. We currently hold more EPSRC funding than any other UK Statistics group and comprise of 25 academic staff, 19 research associates and over 50 research students, with research expertise across Bayesian and Computational Statistics, Time Series and Changepoints, Extreme Value Statistics, Statistical Learning, Statistical Ecology, and Environmental, Medical and Social Statistics. Lancaster is one of the UK's top departments in Mathematics and Statistics, ranked 7th overall in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework and 1st for impact.
The Department hosts the EPSRC-funded Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistics and Operational Research in partnership with industry, STOR-i (www. stor-i.lancs.ac.uk), in collaboration with the Department of Management Science, and is a member of the ESRC North West Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (https:// www. nwssdtp.ac.uk/). The Department is one of the founding partners in Lancaster's thriving Data Science Institute (www. lancaster.ac.uk/dsi), which has core themes focusing on health, environment and society. These activities build on flourishing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Statistics.
