Job description
Faculty of Environment, Science & Economy – Business School – Degree Apprenticeships
This full-time role is available immediately on a permanent basis.
The role
We are seeking to appoint a new Lecturer to join our Degree Apprenticeship team delivering professional practice learning across the Business Schools portfolio of Degree Apprenticeships. These programmes are delivered through blended learning, a mixture of online and on-campus masterclasses with a significant element of work place learning and assessment.
You will have responsibility for the design, development and production of teaching and learning material suitable for use in our apprenticeship programmes and deliver either across a range of modules or within a your particular area of interest. You will work with your department to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of teaching programmes in accord with the College's education strategy. You will also contribute directly to teaching in one or more of the discipline areas in the College and to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices across the College.
We welcome applications from candidates interested in working part-time hours or job-sharing arrangements.
This role can be based anywhere in the UK.
About you
For a Lecturer post you will:
Contribute to the design, development and delivery a range of modules or programmes at various levels; applying innovative and appropriate teaching techniques.
Be able to lead students through workplace learning modules in which individual students will be assessed as part of the apprentices' end point assessment
Please ensure you read our Job Description and Person Specification for full details of this role.
Business School – Degree Apprenticeships
The University of Exeter Business School (UEBS) have developed a suite of Degree Apprenticeship programmes designed in collaboration with employers to meet all aspects of the apprenticeship standards. UEBS aims to fulfil employer expectations and includes employer involvement right from the start of the degree. This is achieved via a range of delivery models including day release, distance learning, online learning and integrated assessment in partnership with the apprentice's employer.
In line with the ethos of the degree apprenticeship, we intend to increase access and widening participation into higher education through a programme which uses blended learning and blended assessment. We acknowledge that participants are employed and have consciously chosen to ‘earn whilst they learn' (QAA, 2004) and as such this programme has been designed to recognise the knowledge, skills and understanding that an applicant has already developed in their current job role.
Our design is premised on the assumption that the most authentic and powerful pedagogy is one that focuses on the identification, analysis and resolution of immediate problems in the apprentices' world, therefore these programme link learning directly to the working manager. We believe that this philosophy directly fits with the requirements laid down by Apprenticeship standards, serving both apprentice and employer.
What we can offer you:
An Innovation, Impact and Business directorate that works closely with our academics providing specialist support for external engagement and development;
Our Exeter Academic initiative supports high performing academics to achieve their potential and develop their career;
Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Commitment
Whilst all applicants will be judged on merit alone, we particularly welcome applications from groups currently underrepresented within our working community. Reasonable adjustments are available for interviews and workplaces.
With over 30,000 students and 7,000 staff from 150 different countries we offer a diverse and engaging environment where our diversity is celebrated and valued as a major strength. We are committed to creating an inclusive culture where all members of our community are supported to thrive; where diverse voices are heard through our engagement with evidence-based charter frameworks for gender (Athena SWAN and Project Juno for Physics), race equality (Race Equality Charter Mark), LGBTQ+ inclusion (Stonewall Diversity Champion) and as a Disability Confident employer.
