About the role
This is initially a two year fixed term contract.
We are looking for and innovative, enthusiastic and dynamic academic to lead a
new area in outdoor learning and biodiversity. The successful candidate will
take a lead role within the Woodlands Forest School at the University's Stoke-
Staffordshire University will be opening a newly built Woodlands Day Nursery
and Forest School in Summer 2022. This provision resides within the Institute
of Education. The Forest School will cater to a large and diverse range of
users, from university students on multi-disciplined courses, to outreach work
with school aged children (primary through to secondary).
The successful candidate will be developing an outdoor curriculum and
experiences for schools and children alongside other experts. They will also
bring expertise in subject discipline linked to biodiversity. This will enable
them to help us develop both the estate and curricular which have issues of
biodiversity, sustainability and climate change at the heart of the offer.
The successful candidate will have an academic background. We are particularly
interested in candidates with a background in Biodiversity, Education and
Geography. A doctoral qualification and experience of research in a linked
discipline would be desirable, with a Post-Graduate qualification essential.
We are also expecting that the successful candidate has Qualified Teacher
Status, or similar.
