The University of Lincoln is seeking to appoint a 1.0 FTE Lecturer in Music
(fixed-term) to teach across both the BA Music and MRes programmes.
As a new member of staff at the University of Lincoln, the successful
candidate will be situated within the School of Creative Arts, part of the
College of Arts. The School offers Undergraduate programmes in Dance, Drama &
Theatre, Fine Art, Music, Creative Writing, and Technical Theatre & Stage
Management, alongside a suite of M-level programmes and MPhil/PhD
The School of Creative Arts resources include purpose-built rehearsal rooms,
general purpose studios, a 400-seater theatre (Lincoln Performing Arts
Centre) and the MAC suite which support the production of traditional and
digital music production. The Music department owns a range of instruments,
including a grand piano and a full production suite, supported by a full-time
The University of Lincoln's BA (Hons) Music degree programme balances
performance, composition and academic modules with a range of industry-
focused, public-facing modules that stimulate engagement with the local scene
as well as link the theoretical and academic study of music with the practical
and creative aspects of the discipline.
As a Lecturer in Music, your primary duties will be to teach and assess
student work across a range of both undergraduate and postgraduate practical
and theoretical modules, with a specific focus on ethnomusicology, music and
society and the music industries.
You will have experience of working in music higher education at both
undergraduate and postgraduate level and will be expected to fulfil the role's
minimum requirements in teaching, scholarship and/or professional practice.
You will have performance experience in any musical genre or tradition, and
will be able to take on the leadership of the folk band, adapting its
repertoire to your musical knowledge and tradition. Experience in the music
industries as an event organiser or artistic director is desirable. Duties may
also include module leadership, fulfilling appropriate administrative and
recruitment duties, and contributing to the extra-curricular provision.
Recruited at Grade 7, the successful candidate will also support the ongoing
development and continuation of Music provision in the university.
