Applications are sought for a fixed-term post from a scholar with an active research agenda and interest in teaching the politics and sociology of war to Birkbeck's distinctive students.

Birkbeck has a proud reputation for teaching and research in politics and international relations.

You will join a vibrant team of scholars with diverse disciplinary orientations, and whose research and teaching spans the full range of politics specialisms.

You will be expected to contribute to essential undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of the politics and sociology of war and will be acting director of the School level MSc War and Humanitarianism.

The Department wishes to recruit a member of staff to teach and administer courses in the politics and sociology of war. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Evidence of a capacity to publish in high-quality academic journals is essential, as is capacity to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You should have a PhD in Politics or a related area.

Remuneration:

The Lecturer grade of of the College's London Pay Scale, which is £38,594 rising to £53,342 per annum.

The salary quoted is on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
