We are widely recognised for our expertise and excellence in creative practice, enhanced by extensive international collaboration, providing both staff and students with the opportunity to work and study worldwide.

Our ambition is to be in the top ten for creative industries among UK Higher Education Institutions.

As such, we are expanding our acclaimed suite of Creative Writing programmes by recruiting a Lecturer in Creative Writing with commercial genre specialisms, to join the team at our Merchiston Campus on a part-time basis (21 hours per week).

The role will be primarily focused on teaching postgraduate Creative Writing students and will give you the opportunity to collaborate with a number of stakeholders, utilising your ability for cross-disciplinary working and general commitment to collaboration across the University and beyond.

What we will need from you:

We are looking for someone ambitious and enthusiastic, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team supporting others.

You will also need:

  • Postgraduate or Undergraduate degree, demonstrable subject expertise in the area along with relevant practice experience in the field
  • A professional publication record of recent, relevant commercial genre fiction
  • Relevant teaching experience and evidence of a professional academic profile alongside a commitment to sustained continuous professional development
