We are seeking to appoint a part-time Lecturer (Teaching) in plant sciences on a temporary basis to deliver exceptional teaching and assessment across a range of undergraduate units with an emphasis on plant biology.

Our teaching consistently receives very high student satisfaction scores in the National Student Survey (NSS).

About you:

You will have a PhD in plant biology, or in a related subject area, and will be expected to prepare and deliver teaching material, assessment and marking of coursework in the plant sciences, and supervision of laboratory classes will be required.

The role carries a high level of responsibility as well as the opportunity to play a proactive and creative role in the development of teaching activities in the Department, and you will therefore have a proven record of high-quality teaching.

The Department of Life Sciences at Bath runs undergraduate degrees in Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Biology and Biomedical Sciences and postgraduate taught degrees. The teaching and learning environment within the Department includes a range of activities from standard “lectures” delivered to both large (> 75 students) and small classes of students, through practicals and lab-based project environment to small-group tutorials involving just a few students .

The Department places great value on quality of teaching as determined by a combination of peer assessment of good practice, student achievement, and good student feedback. We will endeavour to support the candidate in delivering high-quality teaching.
