The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Bronx Community College is accepting applications for a Lecturer line starting Fall 2022. The successful candidate will be able to teach courses at all levels of a two-year A.S. Curriculum in both Mathematics and Computer Science. The primary focus is on teaching and direct student engagement. Experience in online teaching, curriculum development, outcome assessment, and grant writing will be considered favorably by the hiring committee.

The Lecturer position is eligible for a Certificate of Continuing Employment after five years. The position has no requirement of research publications. In addition to primary teaching duties, it is expected that Lecturers will engage in departmental service and professional development aimed at broadening teaching strategies and techniques. Interaction with students outside the classroom, including advising, mentoring and supervising projects involving outside mathematical interests, is encouraged.

This lecturer line is offered in conjunction with a CUNY-wide effort to increase faculty diversity.


Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or a closely related field; A minimum of 2-years of teaching experience, as well as experience teaching online and/or HyFlex. Also required is the ability to teach successfully to students in an urban environment. Willingness to cooperate with colleagues for the good of the Department and College.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or a closely related field; experience teaching at the community college level.


CUNY offers faculty a competitive compensation and benefits package covering health insurance, pension and retirement benefits, paid parental leave, and savings programs. Salary range: $51,021 - $83,764. CUNY also provides mentoring and support for research, scholarship, and publication as part of our commitment to ongoing faculty professional development.
