To make the most of this incredible opportunity, you will need have a PhD in engineering or physical sciences, or have an equivalent and relevant professional qualification and experience. Your research track-record will be impressive, and you will be passionate about working in partnership with the team to share expertise. While some teaching experience would be useful, it is more important that you have great communication skills with the ability to engage students in their learning, be that through group sessions or one-to- one. We are particularly interested if you have experience in areas that complement and expand upon our existing strengths, which include

  • Active and passive vibration control
  • Smart structures
  • Structural wave propagation
  • Vibro-acoustics
  • Biodynamics
  • Working alongside colleagues in the ISVR and the School of Engineering, you will contribute to large taught modules in mechanics related subjects but may also act as module lead, taking responsibility for curriculum design, module level assessment and quality assurance. Student projects form a key part of our engineering programmes and you will propose and supervise innovative and exciting projects that provide excellent learning opportunities for our students.

    You will either be appointed as a Lecturer (Level 5) or Associate Professor (Level 6), depending on experience. Two Job Descriptions are attached.
