Job Description:

The Department of Economics, in the College of Business at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invite applications for a lecturer, associate lecturer or senior lecturer position. The primary teaching assignment will be the Quantitative Business Tools I course, required of all business undergraduates. The course is currently being substantially reimagined, along with the two other required quantitative courses in the business core. Broadly speaking, the list of topics covered in Quantitative Business Tools I includes basic financial mathematics, algebra, and calculus, with applications in business and economics.

As part of the college core curriculum, Quantitative Business Tools I is taught in a large section using a non-traditional blended modality known as REAL—relevant engaged active learning—which incorporates on-line and face-to- face instruction in smaller (though still sizeable) sections. The face-to- face sections employ team-based active learning. The position also entails teaching other undergraduate courses in the Department of Economics or in the MBA program.

The typical teaching load is 12 hours (or equivalently, four 3-unit courses) each fall and spring semester. This is a nine-month, non-tenure earning position with an anticipated start date of summer 2022 or fall 2022. The position requires teaching a section of Quantitative Business Tools I during summer sessions as well.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Economics from an accredited institution is required. Applicants must also be academically qualified under AACSB standards to teach at both the master's and undergraduate level. Moreover, at least three years of full-time university teaching experience, or the equivalent part-time experience, is required. Finally, a sustained commitment to teach large classes in a non- traditional setting is a must.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in successfully teaching a range of upper division courses in economics, as well as experience teaching MBA courses. Five or more years of full-time university teaching experience. Experience teaching large classes and experience teaching by way of various modalities.
