Overview

Welcome to the School of Health and Society– a forward-thinking, dynamic school with a commitment to lifelong learning and real-world impact. Our School has a wide range of apprenticeship programmes including Nursing Associate, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Advanced Clinical Practice, Social Work, and we have recently expanded and now offer the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship.

Due to expansion we are appointing a number of Learning and Development Coaches (Apprenticeships) who will strengthen our student support team across our policing and our Nursing and Allied Health apprenticeships.

The University of Salford has made a strategic decision to develop Policing as part of its portfolio of professional subject areas. Responding to the Police Educational Qualifications Framework (PEQF) we have been successful in consolidating a partnership with a major Northwest Police Force to deliver a Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship. We are developing a team of staff to meet this exciting new initiative and are looking for people who have experience of and a passion for professional Policing. The Learning & Development Coach role will enable you to help us provide a high-quality and compliant apprenticeship for trainee Police Constables of a major Police force and to bring your expertise to assist them in meeting their ambitions.

The role within our Nursing and Allied Health Directorate will join our dedicated apprenticeship team and the primary role will be to regularly engage with and support our Apprentices as they navigate their working and learning journey towards their degree and professional accreditation goals.

So what will the role involve?

  • Work with programme leaders, apprenticeship teams and employers to coordinate and oversee apprentice recruitment and onboarding activities, striving to achieve agreed targets and innovate where needed.
  • Organise, attend and document quarterly progress review meetings for apprentices with employers and quality assure the work of others.
  • Give advice on academic programme structure to apprentices and the Constabulary in relation to the relationship between academic and industry aspects of apprenticeship.
  • Support apprentices with achieving and documenting their work-based learning and off the job elements of the apprenticeship.
  • Pro-actively manage and organise ongoing apprentice relationship, to maximise prospects of apprentices complying with relevant programme and apprenticeship requirements.
  • Contribute to our thinking and be challenging on how Salford can transform the way it addresses equity disparities, embraces diversity and becomes more inclusive.
  • Foster the development of an inclusive community, working in partnership with apprentices to improve their sense of belonging.
  • Lead the quality assurance and/or compliance management across a number of apprenticeships within the School.
  • For further information on these posts please contact Jennie Sherlock Apprenticeship Team Manager J.K.Sherlock@salford.ac.uk

This post may subject to satisfactory DBS clearance.

There are a number of fixed term contracts available across our policing and Nursing Apprenticeships.

    What's in it for you?

With over 200 languages spoken across Greater Manchester, we want to create an inspirational, inclusive learning and working environment, celebrating the diversity of our University community in our everyday conversations. Our student population is already incredibly diverse, and we want to ensure this is reflected across our colleague profile as well. There is a varied benefits package available through ‘MySalford' where you can tailor your benefits to suit your own lifestyle – everything from additional annual leave, savings on High Street shopping, travel discounts as well as health and wellbeing support. Flexibility on working from home is supported where possible, however the role will be based on the University of Salford campus.

However you identify, whatever your pathway has been to get here, come and join us at the University of Salford where we are all proud to belong - watch us in action here!
