The Maintenance division consists of seven Departments: Custodial Services, Grounds Department, Electrical Maintenance, Utilities Maintenance, Structural Maintenance, Construction Services, and Auxiliary Services. The Facilities Maintenance team performs routine and preventative maintenance and repairs of the campus buildings and utility infrastructure. Grounds services provides an aesthetically pleasing environment for University faculty, staff, students, and visitors by maintaining all campus turf, landscapes, irrigation system, litter control, solid waste management and recycling. Facilities Maintenance maintains, repairs, constructs, and renovates University facilities and installed systems in accordance with applicable codes and regulations, and in conformance with University policies and standards.The Facilities organization at UNT is a service provider comprised of the following divisions: Facilities Planning Design & Construction (PDC); Facilities Maintenance (FM) and Facilities Support & Services (FSS). We are responsible for the planning, renovation, maintenance and repair of university buildings and facilities, as well as other services playing an essential role to the mission of the University of North Texas. Facilities has over 325 employees who lead the way in caring for and operating over 175 facilities across 960 acres of property. Position Overview
This position is responsible for advanced skilled craftwork that involves plumbing work. Duties include installation, maintenance, repair, and service of building systems and requires advanced skills in a primary craft and working knowledge of other crafts.
• Leads, performs with, and gives directions to skilled or unskilled workers and maintenance workers; supervises and coordinates activities in conjunction with and in the absence of the immediate supervisor and manages projects and work load assignments as required. • Prepares equipment and plans for plumbing job by reading blueprints, coordinating with co-workers and assembling appropriate equipment. • Inspects structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe. • Inspects and investigates leaks to determine appropriate actions to resolve and repair; maintains, installs, and replaces various plumbing pipes, fittings, fixtures, valves, and other related appliances within campus facilities and infrastructure according to the international plumbing code. • Performs skilled plumbing on hot or cold water systems, steam heating, compressed air, gas supply, and lab equipment. • Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes and opening clogged drains; repairs and maintains internal plumbing systems and external drains; cleans plumbing systems utilizing appropriate equipment. • Reports needed equipment and supplies in order to maintain proper amounts of inventory to perform jobs in a timely manner. • May perform light electrical, excavation, and/or demolition work • Other duties as assigned
This position is considered to be essential personnel, and may require working overtime, which could include nights and weekends as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Eight years of related experience with some experience in a lead or supervisory role; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of and skill in use of standard tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of general maintenance task; knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of general maintenance; knowledge of blueprints, schematics, and working drawings. • Ability to use basic shop math applications. • Ability to locate and identify problems in appropriate building system or equipment and to plan and execute necessary repairs. • Physical ability to perform moderately heavy physical work which includes lifting and crawling, and to remain outdoors in inclement weather. • Knowledge of appropriate safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
Preferred Qualifications
Texas Plumber license. Previous experience in a University or state funded institution. Ten years' experience as an Plumbing Technician or ten years experience in a licensed trade supporting plumbing activities. Background in troubleshooting Plumbing Systems. Knowledge of specialized plumbing tools. Previous experience with boilers and building heating systems. Working knowledge of basicHVACand electrical equipment and willing to assist licensed technicians in those trades. Working knowledge of computers including but not limited to Microsoft Office software.
Required License / Registration / Certification
Possession of a valid Texas driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment; ability to drive a vehicle and maintain coverage under University liability insurance policy, if required to drive University vehicles.

Job Duties
o
Performs repairs on campus plumbing systems incuding water distribution, water fixtures, sanitary waste systems, storm waste systems, and boilers. Provides assistance and instruction to junior team members.

Performs preventive maintenance and checks on campus plumbing systems incuding water distribution, water fixtures, sanitary waste systems, storm waste systems, and boilers. Provides assistance and instruction to junior team members.

Performs intalls of new plumbing equipment and piping. Aquires and maintains knowledge of campus plumbing systems including water, sanitary waste, and storm water. Provides assistance and instruction to junior team members.

Maintains tools in good working order. Makes tool and material requests to supervisor, or senior team member. Maintains cleanliness of shop, mechanical spaces on campus, and university vehicles. Picks up trash on campus when it is encountered.

Communicates with the requestors of work orders assigned. Attends position spectific training as available. Performs all other dutues assigned by Failities Maintenance supervisor, manager, or director.
