Lawyering and Graduate Lawyering TA Applications for AY 2022-2023
Posted on June 19, 2022
All rising 2Ls and 3Ls are invited to apply for Teaching Assistant positions for the Lawyering Program. Applications should be submitted using this Google form.
You must sign in to your NYU Home account to access the form.
Applications will be accepted from Friday, June 10th through Friday, June 24th. You will be asked to upload one PDF containing a cover letter, resume, and writing sample. There are no minimum nor maximum word count requirements.
You may apply to multiple faculty members. Their profiles can be found here.
We have six new faculty members joining us this year: Haiyun Damon-Feng, Dorien Ediger-Seto, Madeleine Gyory, Elise Maizel, Alba Morales, and Kate Wood.
Lawyering TAs receive one credit per semester and should be able to attend a minimum of 1/3 of the classes. For more information visit the Lawyering Teaching Assistant application page.
Contact Krista Minteer-Baysal at krista.minteer@nyu.edu with any questions.
Graduate Lawyering Program
You may also apply to be a TA for the Graduate Lawyering Program. There are some notable differences between the Graduate Program and Lawyering: 1) our LLMs are lawyers in their home country and many have already practiced; 2) English is not their first language, and the range of ability varies; 3) the Graduate Lawyering course focuses more narrowly on legal research, writing, and analysis; and 4) our LLMs are from all over the world. Being a TA for Graduate Lawyering is a great opportunity to get to know them and to help them.
In 2021-22, Graduate Lawyering courses will be offered in the fall and spring, with most sections in the fall. The course has one- and two-credit sections; most sections carry one credit and meet every other week, for two hours ten minutes. TAs work closely with faculty in a collegial atmosphere. Under faculty supervision, TAs review students' written work and provide feedback. TAs also meet with students needing extra help with their writing. Depending on TAs' interests, TAs sometimes teach part of a lesson or organize social events for the class. To apply, please send your resume, transcript, and a writing sample to Caitlin Dean, Graduate Lawyering Administrative Assistant, at Caitlin.dean@nyu.edu. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Prof. Karen Ross karen.ross@nyu.edu or Prof. Alice Burke alice.burke@nyu.edu.
