  • Based at the City Campus but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University.

  • About the Position The LLN Practitioner will be required to work directly with students and employ specialist LLN strategies and develop appropriate learning activities to support students to meet learning outcomes. The practitioner will be required to work collaboratively in a team-teaching situation with vocational teachers when providing specialist support to students with LLN needs.

    The incumbent will use their strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills to engage students and work effectively with vocational teachers, influencing classroom practice where appropriate. You will have a proven track record supplying LLN support in an education background with a strong understanding of the VE sector and a demonstrated understanding of specialist LLN teaching methodologies.

    To be successful in this position, you'll have:

  • Demonstrated practical interpersonal and communication skills relevant to teaching and consultancy environments, including effective presentation and facilitation skills and the use of flexible teaching methods.

  • Demonstrated ability and experience teaching students with additional needs, adult learners, and experience working with diverse learner populations.

  • Well-developed teaching skills, including selecting and using a wide range of teaching and assessment strategies appropriate to a diverse student population and the competency standards required.

  • A proven track record in the design and delivery of up-to-date and engaging learning activities and the ability to motivate and guide students to optimise their learning outcomes.

  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills in English and proven ability to communicate effectively develop and maintain strong linkages and relationships with students and establish partnerships with a diverse range of student cohorts and other service providers to support the program's effective delivery.

  • Knowledge of the VET sector and training package requirements.

  • A strong understanding in computer-based skills including Windows-based software programs, internet accessibility, communication.

  • Mandatory 3 years of teaching experience with high level LLN expertise in LLN, particularly in literacy and numeracy

  • Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or equivalent

  • A Diploma or higher-level qualification in adult education (LLN specialised)

  • Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
