Purpose of Position
Manage a research lab that conducts experiments in the areas of behavioral neuroscience and psychopharmacology with small lab animals (rats and mice).
Primary Responsibilities
Conduct behavioral and biological tests of brain function in response to various pharmacological treatments, genetic manipulation, or brain injury.
Schedule and perform experiments independently, gather and analyze data. Maintain a colony of rats and mice. Prepare solutions and administer drugs to lab animals. Test cognitive and behavioral function in rats, collect tissue, and prepare tissue for analyses. Maintain testing and analytic equipment and order supplies.
Train and coordinate student research on related projects.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in psychology or a natural science. One-year experience working in neuroscience research lab preferred. Excellent fine motor skills and willingness to work with laboratory animals and students.
