The School of Engineering is seeking to appoint a versatile and experienced Engineering Technician to join its skilled Technical Services team of 12 technical staff. The post holder will be highly organised with a positive and flexible approach to work in order to deal with a variety of requests and tasks.

The appointee will be primarily responsible for supporting research and teaching activity in the School and for contributing to the design and interfacing of varied mechanical artifacts for projects. The post-holder will also contribute to the manufacture of experimental apparatus, routine servicing and maintenance of equipment, Health & Safety implementation within labs, and the transfer of knowledge and practical advice to undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as staff.

With extensive work experience in a Mechanical Engineering environment and with qualifications in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., recognised apprenticeship) the post holder will have proven mechanical abilities.

The role is customer facing and the School is a diverse and international community of staff and students. The post holder will therefore require excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a strong commitment to service delivery.
