The Role
The appointee will be responsible for the design, construction, and operations
of research laboratories, including but not limited to:
facilitating the design and construction of new research laboratories and the renovations of existing research laboratories; resolving issues in the construction process by communicating with users and contractors/designers/consultants; overseeing the constructions/renovations of research laboratories; following up the project progress to complete the constructions/renovations on schedule and within budget;
managing the daily operations of research laboratories, including equipment management (acceptance, maintenance, inventory, allocation, calibration, periodic inspection etc.); ensuring the safe and effective operation of the laboratory by conducting environmental control, power and energy management; implementing the 6S standard; establishing the intelligent management systems (for laboratories, buildings, and equipment) through computer software and cellphone Apps;
managing the procurement, setting-up, installation, operation, and/or relocation of major equipment/instrument/facility; coordinating with manufacturers for the installation/operation/maintenance of major equipment;
managing inventories of critical laboratory assets and supplies, such as Dangerous Goods and controlled products; and
managing the shared equipment according to relevant guidelines and regulations.
Qualifications and Qualities
A Bachelor's degree or above, preferably in physics, chemistry, and/or
engineering
Experience in operating intelligent/automation systems or application to
manage laboratories (as an advantage), preferably with 10+ years of
working experience in research laboratory constructions and/or management
Familiarity with laws and regulations on laboratory environmental
protection and Dangerous Goods.
Knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) is preferred.
Working experience in a large analytical and testing centre and/or a
central equipment-sharing platform is preferred.
Proficiency in Mandarin and English, preferably with good communication
and writing skills, teamwork spirit, and organization skills
