Laboratory Analyst (at the rank/grade of Technical Officer/Research Assistant I/II) in the Clinical Trials Centre (Ref: 516351) (to commence as soon as possible for one or two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

The Clinical Trials Centre (HKU-CTC) is a leading clinical trials management platform established under the LKS Faculty of Medicine and dedicated to managing and facilitating international-standard clinical trials on new drugs, medical devices and medical technologies. HKU-CTC offers long-term development opportunities to passionate talents who are devoted to a career in the clinical trial profession.

HKU-CTC's Pharmacokinetics Laboratory (PK Lab) is a state-of-the-art bioanalytical laboratory dedicated to providing professional pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic bioanalytical services for clinical trials targeting for regulatory approvals of new/novel pharmaceutical products. The PK Lab is seeking talents who are interested/experienced in practising the bioanalytical profession in drug development.

Applicants should possess (i) a Bachelor's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biotechnology, Applied Biology or related disciplines, with at least 2 years' experience in bioanalysis and/or analytical laboratory operations; or (ii) a Master's or Doctoral degree in the aforesaid disciplines. They should have good bioanalytical laboratory skills (including handling of biospecimens, bioanalytical method development/validation, and performing quantitative analysis using LC/MS systems), good organizational and problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality and compliance. Experience in operating laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and knowledge in Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) are added advantages. Applicants should also be detail-minded, able to handle multiple concurrent tasks, and have a strong sense of responsibility. A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese is needed for effective communication.

The appointee will support the operations of the PK Lab, including: (i) performing bioanalytical-related activities (e.g. development and validation of bioanalytical methods, performing benchtop pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic sample analysis, and analytical plans/reports writing); (ii) management of laboratory facilities and consumables (e.g. utilization/enhancement of LIMS, calibration/maintenance of equipment, and consumable inventory management); and (iii) performing other duties as assigned. Working outside normal business days or hours may be required occasionally.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. Appointment on two-year fixed term will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
