  • What iMM seeks: At this moment iMM is looking for a Lab Techncian to join the Chromatin & Epigenetics Lab, coordinated by Sérgio Almeida within funding PTDC/MED-OUT/4301/2020- “Decoding the Role of Break-Induced Transcription in Ageing” (BITAgeing), supported by FCT / MCTES through national funds (PIDDAC), to execute the following activities under the supervision of Sérgio Almeida:

     Perform the experiments planed in the BITAgeing research project;

     Interpret data and present it to the team;

     Prepare reports and communications;

     Assist in the daily research activities of the lab.


    What iMM offers: iMM will offer outstanding working conditions in this area in Portugal, including a full-time contract, starting predictably in January 2023. The contract will remain only for the necessary execution period of the work plan.

    Working Conditions: Unfixed Term employment contract; - Gross monthly salary of 1600€, in accordance with the project budget and iMM Career By-Law. The indicated amount will be subject to the mandatory taxes accordingly to Portuguese Labor Law.

    Selection process

    Evaluation Criteria: Applications will be evaluated by Sérgio Almeida, Anne- Valerie Gendrel and Robert Martin in accordance with the following method:

    - 1st Phase: 50%: Curriculum Vitae (35%) and Motivation Letter (15%) - The Curriculum Vitae will be analyzed qualitatively, and in what concerns to its content and relevance for the tasks to be performed, namely: executed and/or published scientific work on chromatin biology (25%), oral and poster communications (5%) and participation in research projects with a special emphasis on those directly related with the area of the work plan (5%). The Motivation Letter will be evaluated considering the interest demonstrated by the candidate and the relevance of the candidate's profile to the topic of the call (10%) and the command of the English language (5%).

    - 2nd Phase: Interview: 50%. Only selected candidates who score > 40% in phase 1 will be interviewed.

    Results: Both admitted and excluded candidates list and final classification list shall be posted at iMM website at https: // and all admitted candidates will be notified by email.

    Preliminary Hearing and Final Decision Deadline: After notification, all candidates have 10 working days to respond. Panel's final decisions are pronounced within a period of 90 days, from application deadline.

    The present call is exclusively aimed at filling the indicated vacancy and may be terminated until the homologation of the final candidates' ranking list and expires with the respective occupation of the position on offer.

    Offer Requirements Skills/Qualifications

    Profile of Candidate

     Master (MSc) in biomedical sciences;

     Solid theoretical expertise and previous hands-on experience in chromatin biology.

     Previous experience in the performing RNA-seq, ChIP-seq or related assays will be positively assessed.

    IMPORTANT NOTE: In the event the Master (MSc) degree was awarded by a foreigner higher institution, the degree must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law nr 66/2018, 18th August, and all formalities established there must be fulfilled by applications deadline.
