The Laboratory of Neuropathology has close collaborations with the other departments of KU Leuven and the University Hospitals of Leuven. You will be employed in an established lab led by Prof. dr. Dr. Dietmar Thal. The lab is interested in understanding the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and related neurodegenerative disorders. We examine human brain samples from deceased patients and animal models.

ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for a laboratory technologist (M/F) for3 years to participate in two research projects
You conduct animal experiments.
You provide the analysis of human tissue using thefollowing techniques, among others:
- immunohistochemistry,
- immunofluorescence
- making paraffin blocks
- working with microtome/cryomicrotome,
- biochemical analysis of tissue samples (SDS-PAGE,BN-PAGE, western blotting, ELISA, etc.) incl. preparing samples for massspectrometry
ProfileYou have a bachelor's or master's degree, preferablyin biomedical laboratory technology or biomedical sciences, and your experiencewith the above-mentioned techniques is a plus.
- you are willing to work with human tissue samplesand animals
- you can work both independently and in a team
- you work accurately, you have good organizationaland communication skills and you have a good knowledge of English.
OfferWe offer you the opportunity to participate in thedevelopment of our laboratory. It concerns a research support function in adynamic and growing environment, in an international context.
This is a full-timeposition for a period of 1 year with the possibility of extension. Thisposition is linked to a grade 3 or grade 4 salary, depending on your relevantwork experience and competencies.
