The lab technician will provide technical/electronic/programming and logistical research support to faculty. This includes maintenance and operation of the Physics machine shop along with duties relating to laboratory safety across the department.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties for this position include: fabrication/design/repair of required mechanical and/or electrical parts for laboratories (research and teaching); Machine shop operation, safety, and maintenance; assist with annual laboratory safety inspections and related preparation/follow up; track chemical inventories for all research labs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's in STEM field or equivalent experience in research/teaching laboratory settings; ability to obtain radioactive materials user status for Villanova's certification/licensing (renew annually). Experience or ability to learn electronics, computer programming/interfacing, general laboratory safety, and machine shop tool operation and safety.
Preferred Qualifications:
A minimum of 1-2 years Physics research experience preferred. Experience with soldering, CAD (SolidWorks or similar), G-code, and Python Knowledge/ experience using a CNC Milling machine, lathe, bandsaw, mill, drill press, belt sander, soldering iron, and electronics test equipment (voltmeters, oscilloscopes, detectors).
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:
Ability to lift 25lbs and mild exposure to radioactive materials.
